John Piper

“A voice people just like to listen to”

From the time he was fourteen years old when he received a Mister Microphone for Christmas, John Piper has relished being behind the microphone.  In high school, John was selected to be the PA Announcer for his high school baseball team at South High in Torrance, California.  The experience fanned the flames for future vocal pursuits.

After high school he took a more formal vocal educational path majoring in Speech Arts at El Camino College in Southern California. He began building his vocal foundation with courses in Voice and Articulation, Effective Speaking, Oral Interpretation of Literature and Group Communications in addition to many other courses focused on the speech and communication arts.

With his vocal intentions in place, John was accepted to study Broadcasting at the prestigious LAB in Hollywood California with the focus of On-Air Development and Voice Articulation while studying with the top DJ’s and voice coaches in the L.A area.

In 1988 John received the great honor of winning the first Think Blue Public Address Announcer Contest for the Los Angeles Dodgers dazzling over 44 thousand fans with his melodious tones.  John likes to point out it was one of his greatest thrills and the last year the Dodgers won the World Series.

John’s Dodger experience directly led to his first paid voice over job that same year, it was a commercial on KCOP-TV Los Angeles for an issue of Los Angeles Magazine. The individual casting the spot was in attendance at Dodger Stadium and contacted John a short time after to read for the advertisement.

John also maintained a 35-year Aerospace Manufacturing Management career while always being firmly tethered to his vocal passions, projects, and opportunities. He often credits his different regional experiences as a major plus. John was born and raised in Chicago and then spent 23 years in Southern California and now happily residing in the Virginia countryside.

John is a lifelong vocal and business professional whose voice has been heard on both radio and TV. His voice has been utilized by numerous corporations, organizations, charities and festivals including The Los Angeles Dodgers, United Airlines, John Deere, Nissan, The Frederick Keys, TV Channel 10 Frederick, Twigg Cycles, Babe Ruth Baseball, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Susan G. Komen Foundation, to name a few. In addition to his vocal experience John also holds a B.S. Degree in Business and Management from Mount Saint Mary’s University and is a premier member of Voices.com,Mandy.com,Upwork and Fiverr.

With his aerospace career behind him, John looks to keep fanning the flames of his passion.  In January of 2019 he launched Pipedog Productions in Loudoun County, Virginia. Pipedog Productions focuses on quick-turn, small project audio recordings with in-house recording and electronic delivery capability while featuring his mature, smooth, lyrical tones. With Pipedog Productions, John continues to share his many vocal skills and remains today “A voice people just like to listen to”.
